DEEPIKA PADUKONE is the new sensation in bollywood born to prakash Padukone famous badminton player of India.She too wanted to become a player like her father.She played badminton at the state  level and she was a member of her fathers badminton club.She did her schooling at the Sophia High School Bangalore.She quit the badminton due to her ICSE exams.Has a younger sister named Anisha who plays all sports, except badminton.Her mother is a travel agent while her father, a badminton player, played at the international level for India and won the All England Championship in 1980.Her five favorite songs are Kabhi Kabhie Mere Dil Mein from Kabhi Kabhie - Love Is Life (1976), Pehla Nasha from Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992), Angel by Lionel Richie, Ankhon Mein Teri Ajab Si from Om Shanti Om (2007), and We Are The World by Michael Jackson.

She later made a successful Bollywood debut in 2007 with Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om opposite Shahrukh Khan. The film went on to become the biggest hit of the year, both in India and abroad. The film featured her portraying Shantipriya - a 1970s superstar, and later as Sandy - a young woman who looks exactly like Shantipriya. Her performance was well received, earning the actress a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award as well as her first Filmfare Best Actress nomination.
